Hi everyone –

I know the semester is really heating up, so I’ll keep this note even briefer than usual. However, there are two things I need to mention.

1) Nipissing flying pickets: When strikes start to drag on, moral support from other associations becomes increasingly important. For this reason, both the provincial and national umbrella organizations (OCUFA and CAUT) organize flying and driving pickets – that is, they coordinate visits by other faculty associations to the pickets. OCUFA just told me that they are organizing a driving picket to Nipissing. They plan to leave Thursday at 2 pm, and be back in Toronto by about 4 pm Friday.

This rally is a big one, and will combine Nipissing faculty with workers at the hospital (which is facing major cuts and layoffs) and at Ontario Northland (who have been locked out). If you are interested in joining the driving picket, please let me know right away and I’ll pass your contact info along to the people at OCUFA.

2) OCADFA AGM: Friday November 27, 10 a.m. to noon, OCAD auditorium. There was a conflict with a Faculty of Art meeting, but Vlad has kindly cancelled that event so everyone can attend this important meeting as we elect some new directors and head into our next round of bargaining.

That’s it for now. See you on the 27th!

Best,

Charles
