I am re-sending this message about the Teaching Art and Design Online course offered by FCDC. If you are a sessional instructor you are eligible to receive a $650 stipend for completing this course. OCADFA negotiated this stipend to recognize the increased labour online teaching entails. If you have already taken this course and receive the stipend, you cannot receive it again. Teaching Art and Design Online is a peer-centred learning community that explores the design, development and delivery of inclusive and engaging learning environments for online and hybrid art and design education. This course is open to all faculty. If you took an earlier version of this course offered over the summer, the current version is largely the same, with a few revisions made to reflect feedback from participants, but both new and returning students are welcome. Through engagement with short readings, podcasts, videos and web content, we will consider theories of and approaches to learning, inclusive teaching, equity studies, language learning and wholistic and decolonizing education as they relate to our experiences within art and design contexts.
Participants in the course will work together to design, develop and give feedback on components of each other’s Canvas courses within a flexible and predominantly asynchronous structure. The goal is to reflect on our experiences as learners, educators, researchers, artists and designers, to further develop our courses and gain skills to support the professional learning of our colleagues.
The three-week course begins this Monday, November 16th and will run until Monday, December 7th. Participation in each of the different components of the course is optional. However, those who choose to complete all components will receive a Certificate of Teaching Online at OCAD U that can be included in your teaching dossier. Sessional faculty who complete all components will be eligible for a $650 stipend. The three-week course will run from Monday, November 16th to Monday, December 7th.
