Dear OCADFA Member:

Generally my notes to OCADFA members address issues specific to the Association. Today is different. Today I’m writing to you about the fates of Tarek Loubani, a Canadian emergency physician and John Greyson, a Canadian filmmaker.

By now, I’m sure that many of you know that Tarek and John were arrested in Egypt on August 16 while on their way to Gaza. They continue to be held without charges being laid, and they need our help. Please take a moment to join Sara Diamond, me and close to 80,000 other people by signing this petition[embedded link] to John Baird, Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. The petition’s web page lists many other ways you can get involved, and I hope you’ll take a few minutes after signing the petition to consider other ways to participate.

It is crucial that we make clear to the Canadian and Egyptian governments that our concern continues to grow with each passing day — and you can help with this effort by taking a few minutes to read the petition, and add your signature.
