POLICIES

As well as revising the by-laws of OCADFA the current Board of Directors has approved two policies for the use of the Board members only. One is a Grievance Policy and it clarifies the process for the Board of Directors and the Grievance Chair and the other, is The Revised Policy on Harassment, Discrimination and Academic Freedom for OCADFA Members engaged in the Activities of OCADFA. As an employer, OCADFA has to have a policy on harassment and discrimination on the grounds set out in the Human Rights Code.

OTHER AGREEMENTS

  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between OCADFA and Administration to compensate sessional faculty for the increased workload incurred from the transition to remote delivery.  The compensation is tied to optional training in online teaching offered by Faculty & Curriculum Development Centre (FCDC).  Sessionals contracted to teach in the 2020/21 academic year who enroll in ‘Teaching Art & Design Online’ will be compensated $650 and receive a certificate in online teaching. The FCDC training offers some guidelines faculty may choose to apply in delivering online courses.  There is specific language on Academic Freedom in the MOU to ensure faculty’s pedagogical expertise and autonomy are not only respected, but underscore OCAD U’s approach towards remote delivery and online teaching.
  • ThIs Letter of Understanding was agreed to in the summer of 2025 to provide for a combined permanency and promotion application process for Teaching Stream faculty members.
