The newly formed OCADFA Disability Caucus is inviting new membership from OCADFA disability members and allies. Acknowledging the intersectional nature of OCADFA disability membership, our intention is to advance equity by establishing inclusive, accessible, and welcoming disability hiring, comprehensive disability accommodation, and by attending to disability member retention.

.

Many disability faculty are not well represented in university-wide committees, meetings, and tri-agency research initiatives. Some disability members – TAs, technicians, and faculty – barely subsist in poorly paid and/or precarious positions. Disclosure and in/adequate support are often interrelated and problematic.

.

Our intention, as a caucus, is to identify these issues and act in an advisory role for OCADFA in contract and collective agreement negotiations and grievances.

.

We support the possibility of a collegial partnership with others such as ODESI that can have a further impact on policy change. We recognize the importance of having a complex and multifaceted OCADFA member community at OCADU that can mirror and honour student diversity and establish a more compassionate workplace.
